In this lecture-play permeated by memories and affects, Renato Livera unravels the multiple meanings of the word “colony”. Besides dealing with Brazil’s colonial condition – with many aspects of colonization still vigorously active in dynamics and mindsets – the play makes reference to the Hospital Colônia de Barbacena holocaust, in which 60,000 people were tortured and killed.
