In theater writing, oraliture refers to a poetics of orality that requires the body and the voice to be enacted as language. To debate the issue, researcher, poet and dramatist Leda Maria Martins, who created the concept, talks to dramatist, actress and director Grace Passô, from Minas Gerais, of the show Preto, and with Marcela Salinas, dramatist and actress of the Chilean play Estado Vegetal. Grace Passô is a dramatist, director and actress. She studied at the Centro de Formação Artística da Fundação Clóvis Salgado, in Belo Horizonte. She was a columnist at the O tempo newspaper and acted in theater companies in Belo Horizonte, such as Armatrux and Cia. Clara. In 2004, she joined the group espanca!. For her scripts, she received awards such as Cesgranrio, APCA, Questão de Crítica and Shell. As an actress, she acted in plays such as Krum, directed by Marcio Abreu, and Vaga Carne, a solo she wrote and directed.

Leda Maria Martins is a poet, dramatist and essayist, with a PhD in Language and Comparative Literature from UFMG, a master’s degree in Art from Indiana University, and a postdoctoral degree in Performance Studies from New York University. A professor in the Languages and Theater courses at UFMG, she was also a visiting professor at the Performance Studies Department, Tisch School of the Arts, New York University. Author of several book chapters in Brazil and abroad, she is also the director of Cultural Actions in UFMG.

Marcela Salinas is an actress with a degree from University of Chile. She has participated in more than 50 theater productions. She teaches vocal techniques and word studies at Universidade Mayor, and other classes in undergraduate and postgraduate courses. She delved into the study of musical performance as lead singer of the band Los Fetuchinni (2010-2013) and the group Lágrimas, Jealousy e Doubts (2007-2018), which develops creative material on different platforms.

Rosane Borges is a journalist with a postdoctoral degree in Communication Sciences and is a collaborating professor of the group Aesthetics and Avant-Garde at ECA-USP. She was the coordinator of Centro Nacional de Informação da Cultura Negra and an honorary advisor of the group Reinventando a Educação. She is a writer for the Carta Capital Digital magazine, for the blog of Editora Boitempo, and for the Jornalistas Livres website. Author of several books, including Espelho infiel: o negro no jornalismo brasileiro and Esboços de um tempo presente.
